Bukit Panjang

Bukit Panjang is the malay translation for the words long hill, in which Bukit refers to hill and Panjang means long.

Bukit Panjang is a new housing estate in the north-western side of Singapore. It has an extensive LRT system which links the housing estate together with a train service. The LRT system also provides better accessibility between Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang, which is an interchange for the North South Line and literally the springboard to all other parts of Singapore.

Bukit Panjang was initally filled with swamps before it was cleared in the 1980s for the construction of a new housing estate. Today, Bukit Panjang has gone through many developments, and as the population in the area grows, a new MRT line will be built from this area.
