Orchard Road
Orchard Road is Singapore's major shopping district which houses more than 15 large shopping malls with more than 1000 stores lined along the road itself.
Orchard Road has undergone many developments in the recent years, currently with the building of The Orchard, a high rise residential building, right above Orchard MRT Station. Orchard Road's development brought about a large number of shoppers each year, who come from places as far as the United States.
During festive seasons, Orchard Road will be elaborately decorated with lights, banners and many other types of decorations. It is also the main place for events to take place. For instance, the Chingay Parade which is a large scale parade to commemerate the new year, is always held at Orchard Road.
