North Shore Line
The North Shore Line is
part of the rail development as stated in the Concept Plan
2001. It will join the 2 current regional centres, Tampines
and Woodlands, by a
path that is along the north shore of Singapore. It will
provide easier accessibility between the 3 regional centres
in Singapore after this line is completed. In addition,
travelling time will be reduced when Singaporeans travel
from the eastern to the western end of Singapore (or vice
versa) as it will not pass by the city areas and
reduce chances of train congestion.
The North Shore Line is
currently still under further planning. However, the Concept
Plan 2001 has revealed that this line will most likely
connect stations in the 4
sectors of Singapore together, mainly Changi Airport,
Tampines, Sengkang and Woodlands. This
new line will provide
better accessibility to the northern shore areas
of Singapore.
